The Taulabé Caves located south of Lago Yojoa, on the way to Tegucigalpa. The first 300 meters of the cave have been improved with lights and steps, but exploration has gone, without coming to the end of the cave.
There are guides at the entrance who can do the tour for free, and the tip is optional if you feel happy with the guidance, or if you prefer a self-guided tour is ok.
The cave was discovered in 1969 when the main highway between San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, was under construction. Nobody has found the exit yet and some believe it can be as far away as the Yojoa Lake, Santa Bárbara or Copán.
Next time, while you visit Honduras, don´t forget to visit the Taulabé Caves...
